  • Who is mainly music for?
Children under school age and their parent or carer. Whether you're a stay at home dad or mum, on parental leave or looking after your grand children on Wednesdays, come along - this will be the highlight of your week!
  • When, where and how much?"
Each Wednesday, during school terms at Allawah Community Centre, Buchanan Drive, Coolamon (opposite the hospital and nursing home). We start at 10am, but if you're new we recommend arrive 5-10 mins early so you can register and help your child settle in before we begin. The music session goes for half an hour is is followed by morning tea and a play time. Our morning finishes by about 11:30am, but you're free to leave earlier if you need to. Your first 3 session are free, after that it costs $5 per family, per visit. If money is an issue please chat to the volunteer at the welcome table - we have subsidised places available for families experiencing financial hardship.
  • Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourselves! Everything for the session, including morning tea, is included in the entry cost.
  • What happens at a mainly music session?
When you arrive you'll be greeted by one of our volunteers at the welcome table. After registering and getting your name bag you'll make your way to the group space. We normally have bubbles or a simple toy to occupy children before the session commences. During the group music sessions we use children's music, rhymes, props, shakers, scarves and more. The session is led by one our our team members, but parents and carers are encouraged to join in with their child - everyone will have more fun that way! Each session has a variety of songs - some traditional children's songs you'll already know, and many new ones that will soon become your favourite! Each week we have 1-2 "God songs" that remind us about God's love, how special we all are and God's care for us and the world. At our Easter and Christmas celebrations we tell the story of Jesus in a very simple, child friendly way. After the music, you can serve your child some morning tea before getting a cuppa and something yummy for yourself - some mums tell us they just can't miss mainly music simply because of the delicious morning tea! When the children have eaten toys are bought out for free play, giving adults a chance to chat, unwind and connect with each other. If you need anything at mainly music or have any questions, talk to one of the team wearing a blue t-shirt - we're here to help and serve you.
